The results of last week's to do list:
No T.V. - This was supposed to last a whole weekend...but I haven't watched any to date!
Good music - Found and amazing podcast series, which got me through the week :)
Creative Projects - Well I had started with the headband; BUT went for Kurly Kichana's Natural Hair Meet Up last Saturday which was pretty great :). Got to meet a couple of girlies who's blogs I had been on so that was very coolo:
Curly-Natural-Me - the write up of her in Kurl Kichana was the last bit of inspiration I needed to cut my hair..I read the post I cut my hair; simple as that :-p
Afro-belle - Actually read her blog the day before the meet-up! She's got a love for shoes and I don't blame her! :-p
Closet49 - I have been on this girl's store site but didn't know she had a blog! The concept of closet49 basically tackles one of the major dilemmas you get when you look through your heavily stocked wardrobe and think: "I have nothing to wear." Closet49 allows you to put away 'old treasures' every Thursday and Saturday and pick up new ones at their stall. I have been meaning to go there...today shall be the day!
Organising my room - Well that has been put 'on-hold' until tomorrow - got a busy day today!
Report - Done!! Was a seriously hectic week of late nights and early mornings but it's all over on that front now :)
Have a lovely weekend!xx

Songs of the moment
Amel Larrieux - All I got: Rehearsed all my contemporary dance exam routines to this track. Love the rawness of sounds in the intro!
A random retro tune which got me seriously head-boppin' at work!
...and lastly my song of the week - the remedy to my mid-week frustration :)

Centred
So this weekend I think I'm going to take a T.V. ban and just focus on what I have been missing - blogs and a major dose of creativeness!! Yes I've been deprived of good music; creative projects (but! just successfully finished making a hairband for my dance show - for the brief spin on the Swanhilda dance to be exact!) oh and organising my room...and unfortunately for me I have a report to get through too...but you know what I really like what I do when I have the time when there are no distractions when I'm....Centred.
Quick DIY hairband....apologies for the lighting!

Hair Hair Glorious Hair
Hehe so this week, I've been drowning myself in hair....blogs! Natural hair blogs to be specific and was so proud to find a Kenyan blog with a strong following: The Natural Girls Guide to Beauty and another amazing blog: Moptop Maven that is just so yummy! - everything from how to take care of your natural hair (rhyming not intended :-p) to style, recipes, DIY, moments of wisdom..so wholistic and ticks all the right boxes for what I look for in a blog and more!
Anywho one of the things they spoke about was Henna treatment:
"Henna, or Lawsonia Inermis, is a plant containing orange-red dye known as lawsone in the leaves and petioles or the central vein. When the leaves are crushed and acidic fluid such as lemon juice or apple cider vinegar is added, the dye is released. The dye penetrates the hair shaft, permanently staining it with color, while strengthening roots, thickening your hair shaft, preventing excess shedding..."
So I tried this (see number 3.) out this week - yesterday (amongst a number of all the hair care regimens I read about on the blogs, esp on NGGTB) and I think I missed the bit about making sure the consistency of the henna is like thick yoghurt because oh dear did I have one runny night! Nevertheless..I am inspired by what these girls are doing...and the advice which believe all Kenyan women and African women need about taking care of their natural hair in it's natural state. Ah and of course all the hairspiration from lecoil et al. hair blogs

I love blogs
Most of my inspiration comes from browsing a lot of blogs I regularly read/look at (since most of them have a pictorial focus hehe). As previously mentioned Karla's Closet is probably my favourite blog of outfit postings and The Sartorialist is also a great blog for inspirations and city style across the fashion capitals of the world.
So over the past few months I have tried to look closer home for some blogs and found a couple of South African blogs: JONTY: Reflective Discourse which has some very stylish shoots in what I believe to be the townships in Jo'burg/Jozi...very coolo: vintage/retro urban edge.

Another one I found which is very cool is VIE MYSELF AND I which details the life of a twenty something girl her love for fashion and her new shop...with the greatest collection of quirky clothing and accessories and from what I've seen, some traditional south african-inspired pieces. The whole vibe of the blog is such a creative cultural artsy fusion of sweetness...I want to go to 70 Juta! :p
